Frequently Asked Questions about the Tennessee Party Bike
Where did the Tennessee Party Bike come from?
The Tennessee Party Bike is an import from Europe. It is very popular in Amsterdam and Germany, except there it is called FietsCafe. They have been there for 18 years (with some of the original bikes still rolling along!). Minneapolis was the first US City to have this and when we saw the potential for our area, we quickly joined the thousands riding and touring on this neat contraption!
Who’s the designated driver?
We will always provide a sober pilot who steers and brakes the bike, so you guys can relax and have fun!
Signing liability Waivers before we ride?
All riders must provide photo ID at the time of tour, and must read and sign the Tennessee Party Bike Release of Liability Waiver and Code of Conduct.
Currently the city policy is no drinking in public.
We do not sell food nor do we encourage food or drinks on the bike. The adventure of the party bike is enjoying drinks at the numerous restaurants & pubs . Better yet, plan to visit our preferred partners or other restaurant along our routes!
May we bring our own music?
Absolutely! The Tennessee Party Bike is equipped with multiple docking stations for iPods and MP3 players. Just bring your device with music on it, plug and play and pedal away!
How many are enough?
10 passenger minimum, maximum 15 people. Remember the more you have the less the cost per person and the easier it is to pedal.
Will we pedal up hills?
In Pigeon Forge and Knoxville there are few inclines, but our drivers are locals who know the routes that are best to take to avoid traffic and stay safe. That being said, there may be small inclines that your group will be able to pedal up!
Can we customize our own routes?
Absolutely! We want you to have the most fun you can and we just could not satisfy everybody all the time. So we encourage you to look at our business listings and send us your ideas for your own personal tours. Please, remember though that anytime you want to customize your route, you move into the “Special Pricing category” and the “no refund” policy is still in effect. While you may choose your stops, please remember that there is no maximum time to rent the party bike, but you should plan your stops wisely and try to get everyone’s vote before putting it together. Be sure to call us for details of your rental.
How/ when do I Pay?
The best way to pay is with credit card or online when you book your tour. Remember! The tour is not reserved until payment is received and you receive a confirmation email from us. You can use your credit card to pay after you submit for your date, pay by using a PayPal.
Can I cancel?
If for some reason you really need to cancel (we cannot imagine why!) and if the cancellation is 30 or more days prior to the tour date, the renter has the choice of receiving a 50% refund or a rain check valid for 3 months. Cancellations less than 30 days will receive a rain check valid for 3 months only. Sorry! Due to the overwhelming demand of our time, cancellations booked 14 days out or more and then cancelled receive no refund or rain check. NO EXCEPTIONS. Cancellations booked 3-14 days out AND cancelled within 24 hours of start time, will receive a rain check ONLY!
Tours are booked by appointment only, appointment times begin at 9am and will not be booked past 10pm, on all pre-approved routes. Customized routes vary according to season, time of day, and length of trip. But we will be sure to tell you in plenty of time to be ready!
What if we take longer than expected?
You will be charged a late fee if you do not return the Tennessee Party Bike to the starting point within a reasonable amount of time for the next tour to not loose time on their tour. We haven’t had to charge any late fees, but if the tour is over 30 minutes late, we will charge you a 40$ late fee! So make sure you have your stops planned in advance with your group!
Year round fun?
We tour regularly from April to Oct, rain or shine. Nov-Apr as weather allows. Driver has final say on weather and those will be rescheduled.
For all ages?
From 18-80, absolutely (yes, several 80 year birthdays have been celebrated!) Unfortunately, the party bike is currently for anyone over 18 who signs a waiver.
Helmets are not required, but supplied.
Limit of 300 lbs for people on the bike (peddling) seats and the back seat has no limit.
Tearing it up?
We reserve the right to charge a $250 damage fee or the cost of the repair whichever is greater for any damage incurred to the Tennessee Party Bike during your cruise OR for violation of the Ground Rules as described on the Alcohol Waiver Form and in Your Captain’s welcome speech.
Uncle Sam and Tips?
We don’t charge a gratuity, but our driver’s certainly appreciate it! We do have an 11% state sales tax.
Bread in the jar?
Your captain greatly appreciates your gratuity but is never required. Standard etiquette puts tipping for ‘drivers’ at between 15-20%, but please feel free to use your own judgment when tipping your captain.
